Dear NACN-USA Members, Prospective Members, and Visitors,

I wish you Christ's peace and joy!

On behalf of the NACN-USA Board of Directors, in accordance with our mission to "unite employed, student, and retired Catholic Nurses, as well as associated healthcare professionals in our common health care ministry," I would like to thank you for visiting our website.

As in all good organizations, updates and revisions are inevitable, and that applies to this Association, as well. We have been making some changes to the website, so we are "currently under re-construction," if you will. Therefore, I thank you for your patience during this time of change.

Speaking of change, since my presidency began last fall, we have been revising the NACN-USA By-Laws, supporting and enhancing opportunities for our affiliated local/regional Councils and the development of new ones, encouraging opportunities for members to become more actively involved, planning new member networking options (including a Members Area on this site, and future meetings), along with pending new resources on a multitude of topics including ethics and spirituality, etc. Our Newsletter is also being revamped and will be forthcoming to all members. So, as you can see, we have been busy behind the scenes. As new initiatives and updates will continue for some time, I first of all want to thank you for your patience as change sometimes takes longer to unfold than we might like. I would also like to invite members to both share their ideas for the Association, and to seriously consider becoming more involved. If you are not currently a member, please join us!

Because our society is also ever changing, the need is great for each of us as individuals, and collectively as a group, to become a well informed voice, together with others in healthcare who share our core values, regarding healthcare occurrences which impact our daily lives as Catholic nurses…such is our motto, "Unity in Charity." We have a number of committees, along with officer and Regional Director positions available annually for you to be involved in. We also have opportunities for member contributions to our Newsletters and our new website resource area (now "under construction"). Of course, we always need persons to pray for the Board of Directors, our affiliated Councils, and our membership at large, as well as for the intentions of all those in need of healthcare…for mind, body, and spirit…through each of us as God's instruments. In fact, please join me in asking our patron, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, to pray for us, too!

Finally, dear members, please let us hear from you. YOU are the reason the NACN-USA is here, and we need YOU to be here for NACN-USA, too, in order for it to continue to "grow and bear good fruit!" If you are not a member, please see our Membership area and consider joining others who share your faith and passion for caring.

Have a blessed day,

Cheryl A. Hettman, PhD, RN
